This production opened at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon on 14th April 1983 and played in repertoire there until January 1984.  It then transferred to the Barbican Theatre in London, opening on 16th August 1984 and played in repertoire there until 19th March 1985.
